Get Involved

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at St. Sava Orthodox School.

Getting involved in your child's school and volunteering is essential for creating a positive educational experience for both the child and the entire school community. Active parent volunteers not only support their child's development but also play a key role in shaping the school culture. Parental involvement strengthens relationships, enriches the learning environment, and teaches children important lessons in responsibility, service, and community. Whether assisting in the classroom, chaperoning, organizing events, or helping with school plays. Volunteers make a meaningful impact in fostering a school culture that promotes growth, diversity, and success. Additionally, this involvement enhances communication and collaboration between parents and school leaders, ensuring decisions reflect the needs of students and the broader school community.

There are many ways parents can volunteer at St. Sava Orthodox School with options ranging from simple tasks to more hands-on involvement, depending on their preference. Here are some volunteer ideas that can have a significant impact on the school community:

  • Tutoring: Help students who need extra assistance with reading, math, or other subjects.

  • STEM Projects: Support school initiatives focused on science, technology, engineering, and math, whether by organizing coding clubs, robotics teams, or technology fairs.

  • Event Planning: Assist with organizing school events or the school play.

  • Fundraising: Help plan and run fundraisers, like bake sales, silent auctions, or fun runs.

  • Chaperoning Field Trips: Offer to help supervise students during educational outings.

  • Homework Help: Offer tutoring or homework assistance after school for students who need extra help.

  • Sports Coaching: Help coach or assist with after-school sports teams or physical education activities.

  • Guest Speaker: Share expertise in a particular field by giving guest lectures or presentations on career paths, hobbies, or educational topics.

  • School Board Committees: Join committees that focus on making recommendations for curriculum improvements, or school policies.

  • Administrative Help: Lend a hand in the school office with tasks such as making paper copies.

  • Mentoring: Provide one-on-one mentorship for students who may benefit from additional support, whether academic, emotional, or social.
